視察動物園　竹市長林智堅幫河馬刷牙

對於天馬牧場河馬「阿河」因搬運重摔而死，新竹市長林智堅十分難過不捨，今天特別視察市立動物園，關心園內欄舍等環境，並親手餵食河馬「樂樂」牧草，還替牠刷牙。林智堅承諾做動物園的守護者，讓動物受到最妥善照顧。
 
林智堅表示，市立動物園是早期建置的資產，讓許多市民留下美好回憶，市府將在有限資源下，盡力改善動物園環境。園內亞洲熱帶雨林馬來熊、紅毛猩猩和孟加拉虎等欄舍已經使用50年，老舊結構可能會在地震時崩塌，危害到動物。市府目前規劃500多萬元預算，明年將開始整修。
 
林智堅說，市府將加速動物園周邊公園、孔廟、玻璃工藝館、體育館等「1916園區計畫」整合，通盤檢討後，改善動物園環境和服務。明年熱帶雨林欄舍工程施工前，會把欄舍內動物運往台北木柵動物園暫住，接受專業照顧，搬運過程會縝密規劃，不容阿河悲劇重演。（林師民／新竹報導）
